Update a Locked List Item from Engine Activity

List items can be updated through Workflow Update variable activity irrespective of whether it is locked or not. Lock will not be considered while updating the list items through Engine Activity.

Scenario

Consider a list item New Employee Details which is associated to a workflow Employee Induction workflow on event creation. Employee Induction workflow has a Update Variable activity to assign the Employee ID.

1. Login to Enterprise Console as Rick, create a new employee Peter Botham. Workflow Employee Induction is triggered.

2. Login to Enterprise Console as John and lock the list item New Employee Details.

3. In the Employee Induction workflow at run time the Employee ID will be updated.

4. Verify the list item New Employee Details.

5. List item New Employee Details is updated with the new employee Peter Botham's Employee ID even though it is locked.
