Upgrade Scenarios
You can upgrade to AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 R2 from the AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 or AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 SP1.
However, if you want to upgrade from versions earlier than AVEVA Work Tasks 2023, you must first upgrade to AVEVA Work Tasks 2023, and then to AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 R2.
The upgrade will overwrite all files. Therefore, we recommend that you back up the files before upgrading the product.
Make sure that the user has appropriate rights for installing and upgrading software on the machine.
Note: Customizations to files in Locales, Web, and WorkflowElements folders need to be applied again to the newly created files after an upgrade.
Before upgrading to AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 R2, consider the following points:

Archiving data before starting the upgrade is strongly recommended.

Migration duration varies based on the number of records and may take anywhere from a few minutes to days.

Note:
- Taking a data backup is strongly recommended, as certain changes will modify data
in specific tables to enhance security.
- For enhanced security and optimal functionality, after upgrading to AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 R2, it is mandatory to re-run the Upgrade Manager if a package from an earlier version of AVEVA Work Tasks is imported. In the Upgrade Manager window, click the Update Package button to process the imported packages. This step is particularly important if the
package includes the BAM Dashboard artifact, ensuring compliance with the latest security standards and compatibility
requirements.
Steps to Upgrade

Run AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 R2.exe located in AVEVA Work Tasks 2023 R2 folder.
The installer splash screen, and then the Prerequisites installation screen appears.

Install the Prerequisites.

Click Next after installing the prerequisites.

Click Finish on the InstallShield Wizard Completed dialog box.
The system prompts you for the restart.

Click OK to restart the machine.
Note: It is mandatory to restart the machine after prerequisite installation.

When the Upgrade Manager launches automatically, click Next to begin the upgrade process.

A message window will appear; click Yes to continue.

The Upgrade Manager will then:

Stop the services and Application Pools.

Delete the WorkTasksTemp and Work Tasks Cache files from the machine.

Once the upgrade is complete, you can restart the machine.

Notes:
- During AVEVA Work Tasks upgrade, if Platform Common Service prompt to restart the machine, you can ignore and do a restart after completing installation. If you opt to restart the machine, the installation does not resume after a restart. You will have to run the installer to continue the installation.
- After the upgrade completes, the Work Tasks services and Application Pools start automatically.
- It is recommended to clear the browser cache on the machines where Enterprise Console site is accessed to get the (js, css, images, etc. files) changes to take effect after the upgrade.
