Steps to Localize AVEVA Work Tasks

To localize AVEVA Work Tasks for cultures other than English (US), do the following:

1. Install your edition of AVEVA Work Tasks and activate the license by following the steps described in the Administrator Guide.

2. For AVEVA Work Tasks to work on an operating system with a different locale, the UI Culture for the application must be changed. Specify the following Globalization setting in the Web.Config file present in the Virtual Directory path of each site, corresponding to the application. By default, the Web.Config file is present in the following path:
   [AVEVA Work Tasks Installed Path]\AVEVA\Work Tasks\Web\EnterpriseConsole
   If you create your own Enterprise Console, you can find the Web.Config file in the Web folder of your Enterprise Console.

   For example, if you are changing the culture to French, add the following entry within the <system.web> tag in the web.config file of the Enterprise Console site, with the uiCulture tag as fr-FR.

3. To achieve localization in other languages, refer http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-  us/library/ms533052.aspx for respective language codes. In case of English culture other than English (US), specify the appropriate English UICulture. For example, if your culture is English (Australian), specify the UICulture as "en-AU".

4. Create a folder for the new culture under the Locales folder. For example, to setup the locale for French, create the folder fr-FR in C:\Program files\AVEVA\Work Tasks\\Locales\fr-FR.

5. Copy contents of the folder C:\Program files\AVEVA\Work Tasks\\Locales\en-US\ to the new folder.

6. Change the messages in all the Text files to the new language.

   For example, if the locale is French, then in Calendar.txt change the second string for all the keys. In the

   key, Calendar_Heading:Calendar Control, change the String "Calendar Control" to "Commande De Calendrier".

   Here, the left string "Calendar_Heading" is a Key and the second string "Calendar Control" is the value. Similarly, change the values for the following keys and verify.

    Calendar_Name: Nom De Calendrier

   Calendar_Provider: Fournisseur

   Calendar_TimeZone: Fuseau horaire

   Calendar_InheritsFrom : Hérite

   Save the changes as Unicode Encoding since the ANSI version does not support the display of special characters.

7. Stop AVEVA Work Tasks Services and reset IIS. Delete the cache files from C:\WINDOWS\Temp\AVEVAWorkTasksTemp or C:\ WinNT\Temp\AVEVAWorkTasksTemp. Delete the Framework Temp files. For example, delete the Framework64 from the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET folder.

8. Now restart the AVEVA Work Tasks Services and log into the EC Application. Open the Calendar module. Verify that all the text that was localized in the Calendar.text is reflected.

   Note: This change is required only for non-English cultures and need not be done for English cultures other than English (US).

9. Republish all the Forms for the new locales to get reflected.  

10. To localize the user interfaces, create a locale-specific folder under the ..\WorkflowElements\Default folder. For example, to localize user interfaces for French, create the fr-FR folder in C:\Program files\AVEVA\Work Tasks\\Locales\fr-FR.

11. Change the Images, JavaScripts, and StyleSheets to match the selected locale.
