Limit In-Memory Activity/Steps Count for Repository

You can control the number of In Memory workflow steps that can exist for any workflow instance. In Memory refers to the workflow steps which execute continuously in engine. For example, a workflow activity with a loop or a workflow which does not have any waiting steps like Human Activities.

This feature can be used to stop workflow instances with infinite looping behavior. All workflow instances which cross the In Memory activity count will be removed and gets marked as aborted.

SKInMemoryActivityCount  Table

The table SKInMemoryActivityCount with columns ApplicationWorkflow, and InMemoryCount is added to Farm Configuration database for configuring the In Memory concurrent steps. These settings will take effect only when engine is restarted.

The default In Memory workflow steps for any workflow instance is 500. To change the default In Memory concurrent activity count, create an entry in SKInMemoryActivityCount table with application name as "defaultinmemorycount".
