AVEVA™ Work Tasks

End Event

BPMN End Event

The End Event represents the type of event that stops a process flow. This event can have several possible results such as Message, Timer, Exception, Link, etc. It can also end the process flow without generating any result. The End Event is denoted by a circle with a thick outline. It is empty if the event does not have any result. If there are results they are represented by different symbols for each result attribute, which will be superimposed on the End Event symbol.

The handling of this event with different results during the import of a process model into AVEVA Work Tasks is described in subsequent topics in this section.

Mapping of Visio BPMN Event to the AVEVA Work Tasks Activity

The BPMN End Event is mapped to the End Activity, which is represented by a circle with a thick outline, filled with red, with the image of a stop sign superimposed on it to denote the end.

The following mapping will be used during the conversion:

  • Only the End Events without any result (without any result attributes superimposed) or with the Message result attribute (represented by an envelope) superimposed will be mapped to the End Activity.

  • The End Event with the Link result attribute will be automatically handled by the Link Originator connector and converted to a physical link.

  • In AVEVA Work Tasks, the End Activity will not do anything and will be treated as the logical end of the execution thread of the process. (In the case of processes running in parallel this would mean that the thread which reaches the End Activity will end.)

Note: The End Activity is different from the Terminate Activity.

  • Use of this Activity is optional and has been provided mainly for modeling purposes. Even if this activity is not placed at the end of the process thread, it will conclude if there are no further links to execute.

Validation

In AVEVA Work Tasks, outlinks (links originating from the activity) are not allowed from the End Activity.
