Report Connections

You can package and deploy the Report Connection artifact from one environment or repository to another environment or repository using the Package feature in AVEVA Work Tasks.

To add Report Connections to Package Template

  1. Log on to the Enterprise Console.

  2. On the Enterprise Console menu, point to Settings, point to Reporting Service, and then click Report Connections. The Report Connections window appears.

  3. Select the report connection that you want to package.

  4. Right-click the report connection and then click Add to Package Template.
    The Add to Package Template dialog box appears.

Runtime Initialization Settings

You can configure runtime initialization settings for Report Connections. For more information about configuring runtime initialization settings, see Runtime Initialization Settings.

Configuration Settings for Report Connections

The Report Connections has a unique set of configuration settings required to install, update, and uninstall the package.

You can view and edit the configuration settings from one of the following windows:

  • Source Environment > Package Template > Edit

  • Target Environment > Manage Package > Edit

You can use the Settings tab to define the configuration settings. The Associated Artifacts and Child Artifacts tab are not available as Report Connections does not contain any associated or child artifacts.

The Package Template configuration window contains the following tabs:

  • Settings

    • Install

    • Update

    • Uninstall

  • Security Artifacts

Settings

The properties in this tab allow you to take appropriate actions while installing, updating, or uninstalling the Package.

Install

The settings in this tab are referred to when installing the Package.

  • Report Connection Exists: This property allows you to take appropriate action when the Report Connection that you are installing is already present in the target environment:

    • Do not install Report Connection: Select this option if you want to use the report connection which is present in the target environment

    • Install to overwrite existing Report Connection: Select this option if you want to overwrite the report connection, which is present in the target environment with the one that is currently being packaged

  • Report Connection Details:

    • Source: This section allows you to view the following connection details information that you have used in the source environment.

      • URI: Displays the URI of the report server.

      • Authentication Type > Anonymous Access: Displays whether the URI mentioned-above is configured anonymously. If this option is selected, it means that SQL Server Reporting Service is being accessed as anonymous user.

      • User Name: Displays the name of the user to access the report server URI.

      • Password: Displays the password in encrypted format. This password is used to authenticate the user credentials to access the report server.

      • Domain: Displays the name of the domain in which the above-mentioned user exists.

      • Default Path: Displays the default report template path. This information is required to locate a specific group of report templates that have been deployed in the reporting server. For example: /ArchestrA Reports/Historian.

    • Target: This section allows you to specify the following connection details information that you may use in the target environment.

      • URI: Enter the URI of the target report server.

      • Authentication Type > Anonymous Access: Specify whether the URI mentioned-above is configured anonymously. If this option is selected, it means that SQL Server Reporting Service is being accessed as anonymous user.

      • User Name: Enter the name of the user to access the report server URI.

      • Password: Enter the password. This password is used to authenticate the user credentials to access the report server.

      • Domain: Enter the name of the domain in which the above-mentioned user exists.

      • Default Path: Enter the default report template path. This information is required to locate a specific group of report templates that have been deployed in the reporting server. For example: /ArchestrA Reports/Historian.

        Note:

        You can specify the Report Connection Details > Target either during design-time or during installation. In case you do not specify the target details during design time, you can specify the target details during the install time in the Report Connection Details > Target section or else it will take the values specified in the Report Connection Details > Source section value during installation.

Update

The settings in this tab are referred to when the same Package is installed for the consecutive time.

  • Delete Report Connection: Select this option if you want to delete an existing report connection which is present in the target environment.

    • Yes: Select this option to remove the report connection in the target environment. On selection of this option, the Report Connection Is Modified option appears as shown in the following table:

      Report Connection is Modified: Use this option to retain, delete, or rollback to original state the Report Connection in the target environment even after the package is updated. This property is applicable only if Delete Report Connection is set to Yes and the report connection is modified.

      • Retain: Select this option to retain the Report Connection along with the modifications, in the target environment even after the package is updated.

      • Rollback to original state: Select this option if you want to rollback to the original state. All modifications that were done to the Report Connection after it was installed in the target environment will be reverted. However, the Report Connection will be retained in the target environment.

      • Delete: Select this option if you want to delete the Report Connection from the target environment when updating the package.

    • No: Select this option if you want to retain the Report Connection in the target environment. On selection of this option, the Report Connection Exists option appears.

      Report Connection Exists: Use this option to take appropriate action when the Report Connection is present in the target environment.

      • Do Not Install Report Connection: Select this option if you want to use the existing Report Connection which is present in the target environment.

      • Install to overwrite existing Report Connection: Select this option if you want to overwrite the existing Report Connection which is present in the target environment with the one that is currently being packaged.

  • Report Connection Details:

    • Source: This section allows you to view the following connection details information that you have used in the source environment.

Uninstall: The settings in this tab allow you to define the Package behavior when the Package is being uninstalled in the target environment.

  • Delete Report Connection: This property allows you to define whether you want to retain or delete the report connection in the target environment even after the Package is uninstalled.

    • Yes: Select this option if you want to delete the report connection from the target environment when the Package is uninstalled.

    • No: Select this option if you want to retain the report connection in the target environment even after the Package is uninstalled.

  • Report Connection Is Modified: This option allows you to decide if you want to retain, roll back to original state or delete the report connection in the target environment even after the Package is uninstalled. This property is displayed only if Delete Report Connection is set to Yes. However, if Delete Report Connection is set to No, this property is not displayed.

    • Retain: Select this option if you want to retain the report connection along with the modifications in the target environment even after the Package is uninstalled.

    • Roll back to original State: Select this option if you want to roll back to the original state. All modifications that were done to the connection after it was installed in the target environment will be reverted. However, the report connection will be retained in the target environment.

    • Delete: Select this option if you want to delete the report connection from the target environment when uninstalling the Package.

Associated Artifacts

Report Connection does not have any associated artifacts.

Child Artifacts

Report Connection does not have any child artifacts.

Security Artifacts

The Security Artifacts tab displays the security artifacts of report connections, if any.

You can enable the security settings of the report connections that you want to include in the package.
