  • Last UpdatedOct 30, 2025
  • 6 minute read

These release notes describe enhancements to AVEVA Measurement Advisor and include resolved and known issues where applicable.

Note: Resolved issues included here are the highest priority issues reported by customers, not a complete list of bug fixes.

September 2024

Expectations and limitations

The following expectations and limitations should be considered for this release:

  • If you're using the Client, a charge will be incurred and Flex Credit(s) will be deducted from your CONNECT account. For more information, see About flex credit usage in AVEVA Measurement Advisor.

  • VMGThermo is not available for hydrocarbon dewpoint calculations. Only the GERG-08 calculation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Reference Fluid Thermodynamic and Transport Properties Database (NIST REFPROP) is supported.

  • File Import is not supported.

  • The on-premises AVEVA Gas Day Advisor interface is not supported within AVEVA Measurement Advisor.

  • Microsoft Excel spreadsheets are no longer supported for reporting, as they can no longer directly access the SQL database.

  • Administrative screens are not supported, except for the following:

    • All Queues

    • Max Retries

    • Task List

    • Time Calculator

    • Find and Delete Objects

    • Audit Data

New features and enhancements

  • This release of AVEVA Measurement Advisor now supports the AVEVA Measurement Advisor Data Connector for Autosol Communication Manager (ACM) . This data connector allows transfer of hourly and daily meter reading data, hourly and daily gas composition data, alarm and event data, and configuration data from Autosol Communications Manager to AVEVA Measurement Advisor.

  • There are two new screens in the AVEVA Measurement Advisor client that can be used to check the status of data transfers between AVEVA Measurement Advisor and Autosol Communications Manager. Use the Scada Processes screen to monitor the status of processes transferring ACM data to and from AVEVA Measurement Advisor. Use the GQ Downloads screen to view zone gas quality data transfers. These new screens are available only when the system is configured to use the ACM interface. Configure this by setting CD_USE_DATA_CONNECTOR in configDesc.

  • Five new elements have been added to the gas analysis tables. The new elements are carbonyl sulfide, mercaptan sulfur, supercompressibility factor, unnormalized total composition, and normalized total composition.

  • As part of our efforts to promote equity and inclusivity at AVEVA, we have updated and modernised the language used in our deliverables to be more accessible. Our documentation is now better in line with AVEVA's current accessibility and inclusive language guidelines.

Resolved issues

  • Case - 960397726 (Defect - 3239224) - The 'Use Data' checkbox in the object list property is always enabled: This defect fix addresses an issue where the Use Data checkbox on the Object List Properties screens was not functioning properly.

  • Case - 960395000 (Defect - 3238817) - The meter reading form shows incorrect range for DST day: This defect fix addresses an issue where the Meter Data Editor was not properly handling daylight savings time (DST) differences between host and field time zones.

  • Case - 960353123 (Defect - 2923891) - GQ estimation is taking too long: This defect fix addresses an issue where Lagged Alternate GQ estimation was not using an index when searching for possible split records. Therefore, this query took several minutes. The query has been changed to make use of an index, and it now runs quickly.

April 2024

The following release information is provided for this release of AVEVA Measurement Advisor.

Expectations and limitations

  • For this release of AVEVA Measurement Advisor, the following functionality is not supported:

    • VMGThermo is not available for hydrocarbon dewpoint calculations. Only the GERG-08 calculation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Reference Fluid Thermodynamic and Transport Properties Database (NIST REFPROP) is supported.

    • File Import is not supported.

    • The on-premises AVEVA Gas Day Advisor interface is not supported within AVEVA Measurement Advisor Cloud.

    • Microsoft Excel spreadsheets are no longer supported for reporting, because they can no longer directly access the SQL database.

    • Administrative screens are not supported except for the following: All Queues, Max Retries, Task List, Time Calculator, Find and Delete Objects, and Audit Data.

New features and enhancements

  • New data transfer option for combined Meter/Gas Quality data: A new application programming interface (API) exists to accept gas composition data with the associated meter reading information. For more information, see the topic "[dbo].[writeCombinedMtrGQRawXX] Stored Procedure" in the AVEVA Measurement Advisor Developer Guide.

  • Enhanced properties data transfer of meter configuration and gas quality: A new system configuration setting, CD_SCADA_CREATE_OBJECTS, and a new stored procedure, writeCombinedMtrConfigGQRecord, can be used to have the system automatically create meters, gas qualities, and the associated connectivity based on submitted configuration data. For more information, see the topic "[dbo].[writeCombinedMtrConfigGQRecord] Stored Procedure" in the AVEVA Measurement Advisor On-Premises Developer Guide.

  • AVEVA Measurement Advisor Help is now available on the AVEVA Documentation portal at docs.aveva.com. It can be accessed directly from within AVEVA Measurement Advisor by selecting the help icon .

Resolved issues

  • Case–N/A (Defect–2930197) gq Estimation is taking too long: This defect fix addresses an issue where the system was rejecting data from AVEVA Enterprise SCADA when the scadaEnv parameter was set to an empty string instead of to a null value.

  • Case–960354396 (Defect–2925627) EOD projection stored procedure failed when debug mode is enabled: This defect fix addresses an issue where station end-of-day flow projections were failing when debugging mode was enabled.

  • Case–N/A (Defect–2958433) Customer needs Admin permission to install Sightline: The defect fix addresses an issue where the user documentation did not state that installation of the Client application needed to be performed as an administrator.

  • Case–960376703 (Defect–3024486) objItemView shows incorrect expiration date: This defect fix addresses an issue where the expDateTime in objItemView was using the offset of the time and not the expTime.

  • Case–960374697 (Defect–3016023) Linepack calculation: This defect fix addresses an issue in both the meter editor and gas calculator screens where line pack inlet/outlet pressures were not being converted from gauge to absolute before calculation of the average line pack pressure.

Known issues

  • Description: Host-calculated meters and GQs do not support the REFPROP calculation in AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas. If you are using REFPROP for the hydrocarbon dewpoint calculation in AVEVA Measurement Advisor, then the host calculations in AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Gas will use Peng-Robinson using VMGThermo. Workaround: Not applicable.

Resolved issues

  • Case - 960331597 (Defect - 2640376) - problemAuditSummary fails to complete: This defect fix addresses an issue where the problemAuditSummary would fail to complete under some circumstances when large tableColumnDesc codes were in use.

  • Case - 960329321 (Defect - 2682599) - Cannot update closeGroup from cascading properties screen: The cascading properties screen for both connectivity and dropdown menu properties has been fixed.

  • Case - 960314989 (Defect - 2767526) - Not possible to disconnect MP if TimeZone with GMT+ used and expTime set to Max: This defect fix addresses an issue where the system would throw an error upon disconnecting or modifying an object using a timezone with a positive GMT offset.

  • Case - 960346259 (Defect - 2879920) - Define or Refer table changes not regenerating matrices on standby system: This defect fix addresses an issue such that when the Define or Refer tables were changed, the unitConvMatrix, unitConvSetMatrix, and precisionMatrix, though updated on the primary system, were not being regenerated on a secondary or standby system.
