Operational limit check

  • Last UpdatedSep 24, 2024
  • 1 minute read

The Operational Limit Check detects when field devices are operating outside defined engineering limits.

The Operational Limit Check is performed after data is loaded into the tables, and only if the following conditions are met:

  • Gas Quality (GQ) or Meters are active.

  • GQ or Meter is tied to an Operation Limit Check.

This check applies to the same values as the Reasonability Limit Check.

The following algorithm is used to detect if the field equipment is operating outside the defined limits. As long the new value falls between the engineering limits, the statement is true. If the new value renders the following statement false in any way, an Operational Limit message is generated.

LoLo < Val < HiHi

Where:

  • Val = Measurement data.

  • HiHi = High engineering limit.

  • LoLo = Low engineering limit.

Validation will continue regardless of whether the outcome is true or false. If the data fails the check, the system generates a problematic context record.
