Types of notifications sent by file import

This section outlines the types of notifications the File Import tool sends and the occasions on which the File Import tool can send them.

  1. Notifications sent on File Retrieval Failures:

    • A notification will be sent if the file import tool fails to connect to the retrieval location using the selected protocol (FTP/FTPS/FILE/SFTP). This can be the result of a bad location or a bad username and password.

    • A notification will be sent if there is an invalid Processing Order.

    • A notification will be sent if there was a failure to get a list of files at the target location.

    • A notification will be sent if there was a failure to get the file's last modification time from the database. In the event if it fails to get the last modification time, then will assume that the file has not been processed previously.

    • A notification will be sent if there was a failure to read file contents (the result of insufficient file permissions).

  2. Notifications sent on File Archive Failures:

    • A notification will be sent if the file import tool fails to connect to the archive location using the selected protocol (FTP/FTPS/FILE/SFTP). This can be the result of a bad location or a bad username and password.

    • A notification will be sent if there is a failure to delete the archive file from the archived location (usually the result of insufficient file and directory permissions).

    • A notification will be sent if the tool failed to get a list of files that needed to be deleted for the task. This is the result of a failure to properly query the database, rather than a situation where there are no files to be deleted.

    • A notification will be sent if the tool failed to send a copy of the file to the archive location.

This can be the result of an issue with the file directory permissions.

  3. Notification sent on File Parsing Failures:

    • A notification will be sent if the parsing library could not be loaded.

    • A notification will be sent if the parsing failed due to an unhandled exception.

    • A notification will be sent if the parsing library indicated that one or more entries in the file was not imported properly.

    • A notification will be sent if there was a failure to mark the file as retrieved in the database.

  4. Notification sent on File Parsing Completion:

    • A notification will be sent to confirm that the entire file imported correctly.

  5. Notification sent on Exceed Retrieval Tolerance:
