Note: Unless you have the archive enabled, the file will be deleted from the Destination. Files are not removed from the Source location.

To enable and configure a file archive

  1. On the File Import Properties window, select Enable Archival.

  2. In the Location text box, enter the directory location where the archived file should be stored.

  3. Select the desired protocol from the Protocol dropdown list.

  4. (Optional) Enter the Username and Password for the Archive location.

  5. To rename the archived file, enter the proper Rename Format.

See Rename an archived file to properly configure the string.

  6. Use the Retention Period spin box to select how long the information should be retained in the Archive.

Note: A Retention Period of zero ensures that the information will be retained in the Archive indefinitely.

  7. In order to successfully delete the archived files, you can use a third-party Job Scheduler (JSH) application or manually run the command using a Windows PowerShell. There are two commands associated with the archive deletion component of the File Import tool:

    • MeasFileImport.exe -T <Task Name> -d <databasename> -l - This will delete the files that exceed the defined Retention Period, in addition to looking for files to retrieve and process.

    • MeasFileImport.exe -T <Task Name> -d <databasename> -L - This will delete the files that exceed the defined Retention Period, without performing any retrieval or processing of files.

If you have your Retention Period set to 0, and you issue one of the commands listed above, the files in the Archive will not be deleted.
