Bulk validation

The Bulk Validation application allows you to set the reasonability limits on an object list of meters. This will automate the work performed by the Validation Limits window. For that reason, it is recommended that this be used after the manual Validation Limits screen is well-understood.

The statistics that are calculated and sent to the bulk validation routine are the same as those used by Validation limits but instead of having a histogram to display the data, you will need to use the statistical values to determine if a validation limit should be changed.

Note: You can use this functionality only with the appropriate permission (Meas Object Modify Bulk).

The Bulk Validation application and the Validation Limits application work in similar ways, with the exception of the time-range handling. The validation limits application uses start/end time as its time range, where the bulk validation application uses number of periods. The reason is that in the same set of meters (the object list) can be meters with different primary history granularity.

The process of applying bulk validation to a list of meters is as follows:

  1. Create an object list containing the meters that you want to set the same reasonability limits for.

  2. Open the Bulk Validation Limits window from the Object List Summary.

  3. Write a script (in either C# or Visual Basic (VB)) that adds additional validation rules, or constrains the results for suggested limits.

  4. Select the criteria for selecting the historical data.

  5. Run the query.
