  1. On the Validation Limits for Meter window, select Time Range to open the Select Date Range dialog.

The Select Date Range dialog appears.

  2. Select a Start and End Date Time to configure the range within which to gather the meter data.

Warning: If a long time range is selected, it can have a negative performance impact on the system.

  3. (Optional) Select the desired % of data to fall in this range, or enter the desired standard deviation.

  4. Select Query.

The system retrieves the data for the selected granularity and time range and performs the statistical analysis of the data. The suggested validation limits are displayed under the Low and High columns. The data displayed on the Validation Limits window is raw meter data; it has not been subject to any prior correction.

Notes: The suggested validation limits can be meaningless if the data has a low kurtosis or is highly skewed. Consult the numbers in the grid and view the histogram.

If there are no matches within the range specified, no validation limits will be suggested.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • Change the % of data to fall in the range.

    • Enter the standard deviation (in %).

The suggested limits (the Low and High columns) are changed accordingly.

  6. (Optional) Select Show Trend to show the trends.

  7. (Optional) Select Show Histogram to show the histograms.

  8. To use the suggested limit, do one of the following:

    • Select the mouse on the suggested limit. The limit is copied to the corresponding Current Limits cells.

    • Enter the limit in the current limits cells.

  9. To reset the current value cells back to the current limits, select Reset.

  10. Select Save Limits to save the new limits.

The Set Adjustment Reason window appears.

  11. Enter an adjustment reason and select OK.

    The Select Date dialog appears.

  12. Select the date on, and the time at, which the new limits will take effect.

  13. Select OK.
