Validation performed on close groups with different close periods

There are a number of checks performed to ensure that stations connected to the same close groups all have the same close date. In the event that the station is closed to a later or earlier date than the close group, there are a few basic checks that take place.

To perform validations on close groups using different close periods

  1. The close date of the station is compared to the close date of the close group to which it is being connected.

    • If the station is closed to a later date, the system supplies a message stating that an un-close will be performed in order to align the station's close date with that of the close group.

    • If the station is closed to an earlier date, a close will be performed to align the station's close date with that of the close group.

  2. At this point, a check is performed to see if there are any accepted Prior Period Adjustments (PPAs), pending PPAs or problems in the underlying meter / gas quality (GQ) data at the station.

    • The period that must be un-closed must not contain accepted PPAs. Otherwise, you will receive an error message indicating that you will not be able to add the station to the group.

    • If there are any pending PPAs or problems, a dialog appears. The dialog will ask whether you wish to Cancel (no changes will be made) or Close with Problems. If you choose Close with Problems, the following will occur:

      • If the station was closed to a later date than the associated close group, an un-close to the penultimate close period of the close group will occur.

      • If the station was closed to a date later or earlier than the associated close group, the station will be closed to the last close period of the close group.
