Connect a station to a close group with a different close period

Connect a station to a close group with a different close period

It is possible to connect a station to a close group with a different close period. However, AVEVA Measurement Advisor checks to ensure that the close dates associated with a station are aligned before the station can be added or moved to a different close group. This is required so that close periods that occur in the months to follow can be unclosed without problems.

For example, assume that closeGroupA has the following close periods:

Station Name

Period Start

Period End

stationA

Jan 1/1970 12:00 A.M.

Jan 1/1970 24:00 P.M.

stationA

Jan 1/1970 24:00:01 P.M.

Jun 1/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

stationA

Jun 1/2016 09:00 A.M.

Jul 1/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

Scenario 1 - stationB has the same close date as closeGroupA

Station Name

Period Start

Period End

stationB

Jan 1/1970 12:00 A.M.

Jan 1/1970 24:00 P.M.

stationB

Jan 1/1970 24:00:01 P.M.

May 1/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

stationB

May 1/2016 09:00 A.M.

Jun 1/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

stationB

Jun 1/2016 09:00 A.M.

Jul 1/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

The last close period of stationB matches the last close period of closeGroupA, so the station can be connected to closeGroupA.

As the period start date for the last close period for both stationB (Jun 1, 09:00 A.M.) and closeGroupA (Jun 1, 09:00 A.M.) match for the current close period ending Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M., closeGroupA could be opened after adding stationB.

Scenario 2 - stationB is closed to a later date than closeGroupA

At the time when stationB is connected to closeGroupA, stationB has the following close periods:

Station Name

Period Start

Period End

stationB

Jan 1/1970 12:00 A.M.

Jan 1/1970 24:00 P.M.

stationB

Jan 1/1970 24:00:01 PM

May 15/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

stationB

May 15/2016 09:00 A.M.

Jun 15/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

stationB

Jun 15/2016 09:00 A.M.

Jul 15/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

The last close period of stationB (Jul 15, 08:59:59 A.M.) is closed to a later date than closeGroupA (Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M.). If you confirm that the station should be connected:

  • stationB will be unclosed to Jun 15, 08:59:59 A.M.

  • stationB will be closed from Jun 15, 09:00 A.M. to Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M.

  • stationB will be added to closeGroupA

Because the period start date for the last close period for stationB (Jun 15, 09:00 A.M.) and closeGroupA (Jun 1, 09:00 A.M.) do not match for the current close period ending Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M., closeGroupA cannot be unclosed after adding stationB until the next close (e.g.. when the closeGroupA is closed to Aug 1, 08:59:59 A.M.).

Scenario 3 - stationB is closed to an earlier date than closeGroupA

At the point in time when stationB is connected to closeGroupA, stationB has the following close periods:

Station Name

Period Start

Period End

stationB

Jan 1/1970 12:00 A.M.

Jan 1/1970 24:00 P.M.

stationB

Jan 1/1970 24:00:01 P.M.

Jun 1/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

stationB

Jun 1/2016 09:00 A.M.

Jun 15/2016 08:59:59 A.M.

The last close period of stationB (Jun 15, 08:59:59 A.M.) is closed to an earlier date than closeGroupA (Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M.). If you confirm that the station should be connected:

  • stationB will be closed from Jun 15, 09:00 A.M. to Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M.

  • stationB will be added to closeGroupA

Because the period start date for the last close period for both stationB (Jun 1, 09:00 A.M.) and closeGroupA (Jun 1, 09:00 A.M.) match for the current close period ending Jul 1, 08:59:59 A.M., closeGroupA could be unclosed after adding stationB.
