Gas composition normalization check

Note: Normalization will not be performed for records that have an Analysis Product Type of Liquid Analysis.

The Gas Composition Normalization Check detects errors in field equipment composition normalization calculations.

This check is performed after data is loaded into the tables, and only if the following conditions are met:

  • New Composition Data is available.

  • Gas Quality Site is active.

This check applies to any Gas Chromatograph or gas percentage data that is normalized in the field equipment. The following algorithm is used to detect errors in the calculations:

Where:

  • Comp i = Gas component percentage i in gas stream

  • Tol (%) = Tolerance acceptable for the data check

The sum of the gas component (in percent) must be equal to 100%, within a set tolerance. If the check returns a true condition, the processing will stop and a Gas Composition Normalization alarm and event are generated, as well as a Composition Normalization problematic context.
