Specifies a direction normal to the surface to be hatched.
You are prompted to Identify Design element for Derived Direction
Select an element to display the Direction (Y) window.

CE |
Click to identify the currently selected element as the working element. |

Direction |
Input a value in the field to modify the direction. For example, input N to define a North direction. |

wrt |
Displays the element that the direction is defined with respect to and can be modified. |
The General drop-down menu allows you to define the direction from the CE or the owning element of the CE in the hierarchy.

Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from the X axis of the CE. |

y direction |
Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from the y axis of the CE. |

Z direction |
Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from the Z axis of the CE. |

Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from the X axis of the owning element of the CE. |

y direction |
Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from the Y axis of the owning element of the CE. |

Z direction |
Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from the Z axis of the owning element of the CE. |
The Cursor drop-down menu allows you to define the direction from an element, p-point or Pline.

Select from the drop-down menu to define the direction from a p-point using a cursor pick in the view. You are prompted to Identify P-Point |

Pline |
Select from the drop-down menu to define the view direction from a Pline using a cursor pick in the view. You are prompted to Identify Pline |
The Intersection drop-down menu allows you to define the direction from two items using a cursor pick.
The derived direction is at the intersection of the two items, or if they do not actually intersect, at a point on the first picked item which corresponds to the projection of the second item onto the first.

Prompts you to pick an element which has its principal axis pointing through or towards the required position. |

Prompts you to pick a p-point which is aligned through or towards the required position. |

Pline |
Prompts you to pick a pline which is aligned through or towards the required position. |
The Points drop-down menu allows you to select three elements or p-points on the drawing canvas to define the direction.

Prompts you to pick three elements which have their principal axis pointing through or towards the required position. |

P-Points |
Prompts you to pick three p-points which have their principal axis pointing through or towards the required position. |
Click Apply to set the defined direction or Dismiss to discard any changes and close the Direction (Y) window.
