Equipment templates

For some situations and use cases, rather than importing CAD model files it could be considered to instead create parametric equipment templates directly in E3D Design, and then instantiate these according to actual dimensions.

This approach is particularly suitable:

• Where the original CAD models are unnecessarily complex and may cause significant performance issues if imported

• Where the level of detail in E3D Design is not required to be especially high

• Where the model has several small nozzles of interface points that need to be correctly represented and that may be lost if model simplification is being used

• Where several similar CAD models are to be imported and an equipment template can easily be instantiated into several equipment instances using different parameter values.
