LIEXEC Command

  • Last UpdatedNov 03, 2023
  • 4 minute read

The LIEXEC command is used to export all or part of a SHEE to one of a number of third party formats. Note that a SHEE in this context is anything under the SHEE object in the database - including anything that lies outside the frame of the sheet. The extent of the export may therefore be bigger than the defined SHEE size.

LIEXEC <destination> <VersionNumber> <options list>

<destination> is one of (note the leading /):

  • /Draft_DXF_LI - Advanced export to AutoCAD .dxf file

  • /Draft_DWG_LI - Advanced export to AutoCAD .dwg file

  • /Draft_DGN_LI - Advanced export to Microstation .dgn file

  • /DXF - Basic export to AutoCAD .dxf file

  • /DWG - Basic export to AutoCAD .dwg file

  • /DGN - Basic export to Microstation .dgn file

  • /Draft_SVG_LI - Export to .svg file

Basic export creates monochrome (black or white) graphics, with no attempt to match entities in DRAW to corresponding export entities such as dimensions, layers, blocks . All graphics come out as collections of primitives.

Advanced export creates full colour graphics, with DRAW annotation entities mapped into corresponding AutoCAD or Microstation entities. Where this mapping is not possible, the export will revert to a collection of primitives for that entity. Where the mapping is only partial, additional primitives will be added to make up the deficiency. Colours will map to ACI colours where there is a good match, otherwise RGB values will be used. Refer to Color Mapping in DXF/DWG and DGN Export for further information.

LIEXEC export is subject to limitations. Refer to Limitations to LIEXEC Exports for further information.

<VersionNumber> is specified in single quotes, and the possible values vary according to the destination.

For .dxf files, the version is given in the table with the corresponding AutoCAD version.

Latest supported DXF format (currently 2014)

Note:
The version used by DXFOUT is always the most recent available and may change with future releases of DRAW.

For .dwg files, the version is given in the table with the corresponding AutoCAD version.

DWGOUT

Latest supported DWG format (currently 2014)

Note:
The version used by DWGOUT is always the most recent available and may change with future releases of DRAW.

For .dgn files, the version is always DGN8.

For .svg files, the version is not specifiable and is omitted.

<options list> is a space separated list of option-value pairs. The value is specified in single quotes, separated from the option name by one or more spaces. The options available also vary by destination.

In the table, the minimum abbreviation for the option is indicated by the slash (which is not part of the option name). The default value is bold.

Option Name

Description

Available for

OWN/ERFRAME

Enables paper and view frames (if enabled in DRAW) on the export.

Possible values: ON, OFF

All except SVG

BLACKBG

Toggles white or black graphics, ON gives white graphics (for viewing on a black back\-ground), OFF gives black graphics (for viewing on a white background).

Possible values: ON, OFF

DXF and DWG Basic export

CONFIGDATA

Specifies the name of a configuration to use. The information below provides further information.

Advanced Export

OUTPUTF/ILE\-NAME

Specifies the name of the exported file. May include environment variables.

Note:
No checking is done on the file type used.

All

HEADERF/ILE

Specifies the header file used to initialize export. Must exist and be a valid dxf/dwg file of any version supported by DRAW export.

Advanced DXF/DWG

SEEDF/ILE

Specifies the seed file to used to initialize export. Must exist and be a valid DGN8 file.

Advanced DGN.

SCALE/FACTOR

Scaleup used for changing the exported size. Any positive real value can be used, the default is 1.0.

Used to shrink or expand the export to fit the paper being used, or to create a 1:1 export for a given view.

All except SVG

BORDER

Border to allow around paper frame. A posi\-tive real number; the default is 0.0.

All except SVG

BLOCKBACK

Creates a single Block definition for the DRAW backing sheet.

Possible values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

BLOCKOLAY

Creates a Block definition for each DRAW overlay sheet.

Possible values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

BLOCKFILL

Creates a Block definition for each DRAW hatch/fill pattern.

Possible values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

IGNOREBLOCKS

Allows the DXF export application to ignore all BLOCK rules in the configuration file.

Possible values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

NESTEDBLOCKS

Allows hierarchically related blocks to be nested into a single block hierarchy in AutoCAD.

Possible values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

USELAYERRULES

Allows export to AutoCAD layers using layer definitions and rules (as defined in the configuration file).

Possible values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

DESRULEBY\-LAYER

Where the exported DRAW entity matches a layer rule, the colour/line weight/line style of the exported object is set to ‘ByLayer’. Values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

ANNOMAPPING

When true, the export will attempt to map DRAW annotation entities to AutoCAD equivalents. Not all DRAW annotation entities map well; where this can be determined during the export, the export will revert to the exploded form.

Values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

BLAN/KING

When true, Draw's blanking (if enabled) will be exported as AutoCAD Wipeout entities. This works best if Annotation Mapping is OFF.

Values: ON, OFF

Advanced DXF/DWG

PAPERSPACE

When true, the entire drawing will be exported to a paper space block. Additionally, all views containing design elements are exported to a model space block.

Values: ON, OFF

Examples

LIEXEC /Draft_DXF_LI 'DXFOUT' ConfigData 'default_dxf' OutputF '%AVEVA_DESIGN_USER%\test.dxf'

Creates a dxf file of the most recent version available, called test.dxf in the folder specified by %AVEVA_DESIGN_USER%, using a previously loaded configuration called 'default_dxf'

LIEXEC /Draft_DGN_LI 'DGN8' SEEDF '%mydata%\BACKSHEET.dgn' OUTPUTF '%temp%\mysheet.dgn'

Creates a DGN8 file called mysheet.dgn using a seed file, with no configuration.

LIEXEC /DWG 'DWGR27' BLACKBG 'ON' OWN 'OFF' CUT 'ON' OUTPUTF '%MyACADFILES%\file1.dwg'

Creates a basic dwg output file in the specified location, with no frames, but with cutmarks, and white graphics. Output will be AutoCAD 2013 compatible.
