Rules with Sub-Rules

  • Last UpdatedFeb 11, 2025
  • 3 minute read

If the result of a rule is a reference to another rule element, it is executed, and the result of the sub-rule is returned by the rule.

Any number of sub-rules can be executed in sequence to find the final rule value.

Note:
The RVALUE element which contains the sub-rule must have its purpose set to RULE to enable this function.

Functionality is available to insert, copy, delete, move, and export RLOGIC elements.

Insert New Logic

Adds a new RLOGIC element at the same Level as the currently selected logic.

Insert New Sub-Logic

Adds a new RLOGIC element which is owned by the current RLOGIC element. The Level of the new logic is one higher than its owner. This option is disabled if a value is entered in the Result column for the current logic.

Copy Logic

Adds a new RLOGIC element at the same Level as the currently selected logic and copies all sub-logics and expressions.

Delete Logic

Deletes the currently selected RLOGIC element, and all sub-logic elements owned by it.

Move Up

Moves the currently selected RLOGIC element, and all sub-logic elements owned by it, up the order in the logical expressions grid.

Move Down

Moves the currently selected RLOGIC element, and all sub-logic elements owned by it, down the order in the logical expressions grid.

Excel Export

Exports the logical expressions grid to Excel.

Search

Searches for a database reference to use in the Result column. The functionality is only available if the result is expected to be a database reference type. Refer to Search for further information.
