It is possible to activate a subset of the AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer functionality in Model. White space (unused drawing areas) can be utilised for optimal positioning of annotations on the currently opened sheet. The functionality is available using an additional Whitespace tab.

To display the whitespace tab in Model, some specific actions must be performed:
-
The Model module must have access to the Draw databases with write access. Module setup is managed using AVEVA Administration for the projects you want to use.
-
The MDB must have access to a PADD database with write access.
-
The windows environment variable AVEVA_E3D_DRAWINMODEL must be set to TRUE when Model is launched. The windows environment variable can be added to the evars.ini, evars.bat or custom_evars.bat file. This activates AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer functionality in Model for all projects. If you would like to activate the functionality for a specific project, you can modify the project_evars.bat file.
Run WhiteSpace Calculation
Performs the whitespace calculation on the currently opened sheet. The functionality is identical to the Draw module functionality. Refer to Run Whitespace Calculation for further information.
AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer operates using a cost charging mechanism. Refer to AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer Cost Charging Mechanism Description for further information.
Administration Settings
The Whitespace Admin window displays as read only, allowing you to view the styles used for whitespace calculation, this is indicated at the top of the window.
The styles used for whitespace calculation can be created, modified and deleted using the functionality available in the Draw module.

All styles available on the Whitespace Admin window can be applied to the drawing elements using the Properties window.
