Aids the positioning of objects by placing them relative to the geometry of existing objects.
When object snapping is on, if a point is being specified and it is close to the snap point of an existing object, a symbol displays to indicate that the snap point is present.
In the example, a line is being drawn. The orange symbol indicates that the line endpoint is close to a snap point on an existing object (in this case the endpoint of a diamond, as indicated by a box).

Select the object snap modes to specify the types of snap points that are available.

|
P-Point |
Snaps to P-points of objects. Functionality is available to snap to P-points that are located both on the geometry and outside of the geometry of an object. When hovering over the design geometry, special snap points are displayed as crosses on the drawing canvas indicating the P-point locations on the object. To select P-points outside of the geometry of an object, you must first hover the mouse over the design geometry. Information is displayed for the currently selected P-point. The example displays a selected P-point at the centre arc of a panel element. |

P-Line MidPoint |
Snaps to middle P-line points of objects. |
|
P-Line EndPoint |
Snaps to start and end P-line points of objects. |
|
Item |
Snaps to start or end points of object origins. |
|
Owner |
Snaps to the owning element of the currently selected objects. |
|
Connection |
Snaps to connection points of objects. |
|
Connection Create |
Snaps to the nearest connection points of objects. |
|
Endpoint |
Snaps to endpoints of objects. |
|
Midpoint |
Snaps to middle points of objects. |
|
Centre |
Snaps to centre points (for example, for circles arcs or ellipses). |
|
Nearest |
Snaps to the nearest points of objects. |
|
Perpendicular |
Snaps to perpendicular points of objects. |
|
Quadrant |
Snaps to points representing quadrants of circles, arcs or ellipses. |
|
Tangent |
Snaps to points of objects where the line connecting the point and the previous point is tangent to the objects. |
|
Extension |
The cursor is attracted by virtual extensions of existing objects. |
|
Parallel |
Snaps to points on a virtual line parallel to the indicated objects. |
|
Node |
Snaps to node points (for example, on text objects). |
|
Intersection |
Snaps to intersection points of objects. |
|
Insertion |
Snaps to insertion points of complex objects. |
|
Point Cloud |
Snaps to points on laser data. |
|
Clear All |
Turns off all snap points for an area of the window. |
Different symbols display for each snap type. Each type of snap point can be turned on or off.
You can retain a snap selection between different states of the same operation using the PowerWheel™. For example, it is possible to select a linear dimension that only snaps to end points.
To use a single snap type, select the required operation, for example, linear dimension (refer to Add Linear Dimensions for further information). Press Shift and simultaneously Right-click the drawing canvas. The PowerWheel™ displays the snapping options:

Select the required snapping option. You are only able to snap to the selected option until the point is specified.
