Convert Grid System to Reference Grid

Converts Grid System (GRIDSY) elements to Reference Grid (REFGRD) elements.
The conversion of GRIDSY elements to REFGRD elements is an administration task, access is only available to users with administration rights.

The Add Elements part of the Convert GRIDSY/REFGRD window allows the administrator to select the GRIDSY elements for conversion.

Add Elements |
Allows the administrator to select the elements to convert. The administrator can select individual GRIDSY elements or convert all GRIDSY elements in the project or a GRIDWL element. Select ALL GRIDSY from the drop-down list to add all GRIDSY elements in the current project to the list of selected elements. Select ALL GRIDSY FOR GRIDWL from the drop-down list to add all GRIDSY elements stored under the current GRIDWL element to the list of selected elements. Select Current GRIDSY from the drop-down list to add the currently selected GRIDSY element to the list of selected elements. Click Add to populate the list of selected elements with the current selection. |

Named Element |
Input an element name in the field and click Add to add an element to the list of selected elements. |
The Selected Elements part of the Convert GRIDSY/REFGRD window allows the administrator to view and modify the elements included in the conversion.

When the conversion is complete, the Initial GRIDSYs and Final GRIDSYs columns are populated with the number of original grid system elements and the number of converted grid system elements.
Right-click on the list of selected elements to display a drop-down menu.

Remove Selected Element(s) |
Click to remove the currently selected elements from the list of selected elements. |

Remove all elements |
Click to remove all elements from the list of selected elements. |

Navigate to |
Click to navigate to the currently selected element in the 3D view and the Model Explorer. |

Export to Excel |
Allows the administrator to export the list of selected elements to an Excel file. Click to display the Save to Excel window. The administrator can navigate to a location and name the exported Excel file. |

Print Preview |
Click to display the list of selected elements in the Print Preview window. |
The Conversion Summary part of the Convert GRIDSY/REFGRD window allows the administrator to view the summary for converted elements.

The Log File part of the Convert GRIDSY/REFGRD window allows the administrator to define the location of the conversion summary log file.

Click Browse to open the Log File for Convert GRIDSY to REFGRD Process window, the administrator can navigate to the required location and modify the filename of the log file.
Click Apply to convert the GRIDSY elements to REFGRD elements.
During conversion, a progress bar displays in the bottom right corner of the application window, allowing the administrator to track conversion progress.

When the GRIDSY to REFGRD conversion is complete, the REFGRD elements display in the Model Explorer. All GRIDAX and GRIDLN elements are converted to GRIDFA, GRIDEL and GRIDPL elements.

The original GRIDSY elements are not deleted as part of the conversion and can be deleted manually.
The following naming rules apply to the conversion of GRIDSY elements:

If the original GRIDSY element is named, the suffix ‘_REF’ is added to the name of the new REFGRD element.

If the GRIDSY element is not named and the Purpose property is SHIP, the new REFGRD element is named ‘SHIP_GRID_REF’.

If the GRIDSY element is not named and the Purpose property is other than SHIP, the REFGRD element is not named.
The following naming rules apply to the conversion of GRIDAX elements:

If the GRIDAX element is named, the suffix ‘_FA’ or ‘EL’ is added to name of the new GRIDFA and GRIDEL elements respectively.

If the GRIDAX element is not named and the Purpose property of the owning GRIDSY element is SHIP, the new GRIDFA and GRIDEL elements are named ‘SHIP_X_FA’, ‘SHIP_Y_FA’ and ‘SHIP_Z_EL’ respectively.

If the GRIDAX element is not named and the Purpose property of the owning GRIDSY element is other than SHIP, the new GRIDFA and GRIDEL elements are not named.
The following naming rules apply to the conversion of GRIDLN elements:

If the GRIDLN element is named, the suffix ‘_PL’ is added to name of the new GRIDPL elements.

If the GRIDLN element is not named and the Purpose property of the owning GRIDSY element is SHIP, the new GRIDPL elements are named ‘SHIP_X_FA_[_0]_PL’, ‘SHIP_Y_FA_[_A]_PL’ and ‘SHIP_Z_EL[EL_DATUM]_PL’ respectively.

If the GRIDLN element is not named and the Purpose property of the owning GRIDSY element is other than SHIP, the new GRIDPL elements are not named.
The example is an a log file created when GRIDSY to REFGRD conversion is complete.
