AVEVA™ E3D Design

Convert Supports

  • Last UpdatedFeb 06, 2025
  • 2 minute read

Converts MDS (ATTA) elements to Support (SUPPO) elements. Support child elements are also converted to appropriate elements.

Prerequisites

PDMS projects must be upgraded to version PDMS12.1.SP4.28 or later to ensure compatibility with AVEVA E3D Design 2.1.

The Supports Application Defaults database must include all updates. Refer to Update Existing Client Project Application Defaults Databases for further information.

It is necessary to be in the supports application before converting supports.

Any pre AVEVA E3D Design 2.1 MDS catalogue databases (for example, MDS/CATA) must be replaced with new AVEVA E3D Design 2.1 versions.

Any third party dictionary databases must be upgraded to include new AVEVA E3D Design 2.1 Supports element types. Failure to do so results in the loss of UDA data.

For example, when using the AVEVA supplied LIS project, upgrade the LISEGA dictionary database to the latest AVEVA supplied database. Also when using the LISEGA supplied LIS project, upgrade the LISEGA dictionary database to the latest LISEGA supplied database. Do not switch between AVEVA supplied and LISEGA supplied dictionary databases as the UKEYs are different and this causes loss of data.

Any UDA's used on supports containing the following elements, must have the corresponding elements added to their element list. For example, A UDA with an element list of 'ATTA' must be modified to an element list of 'ATTA ANCI'. A mapping table is provided.

Important:
If UDA's are used on a Support and have not been updated to include the new Supports elements, loss of data may result during the conversion process.

The project structural steelwork elements must be converted to GENSEC elements. Refer to Convert Sections for further information.

The templates must be updated. Refer to Template Data Upgrade for further information.
