Draw Outlines

Draws an outline. By default, the vertexes of an outline consist of a mixture of straight lines and arcs. However, outlines can also be drawn which consist of polynomial curves.

You are prompted to Specify the first vertex or <Cloud>

Input values in the dimension fields and press Enter or click to identify the first point of the outline.

You are then prompted to Specify the next vertex or <Finish>

Input values in the dimension and angle fields and press Enter or click to identify the next point of the outline. A vertex is drawn between the first and second points.

You are again prompted to Specify the next vertex or <Finish>

Input values in the dimension and angle fields and press Enter or click to identify the next point of the outline. A vertex is drawn between the specified points.

You are then prompted to Specify the next vertex or <Close>

Input values in the dimension and angle fields and press Enter or click to identify the next point of the outline. A vertex is drawn between the specified points.

The prompt is repeated, allowing you to create multiple outlines. The first point of a new outline is positioned at the same point as the second point of the previous outline.

Input F at the prompt and press Enter to end the command.

Throughout the outline creation process you can press ESC to cancel the command. Additional functionality is also available.

Cubic

Press the down arrow key and select Cubic to draw an outline that consists of polynomial curves.

Cloud

Press the down arrow key and select Cloud to draw a cloud. Refer to Draw Clouds for further information.

Arc

Press the down arrow key and select Arc to draw an arc.

Line

Press the down arrow key and select Line to draw a line.

Close

Press the down arrow key and select Close to link the two endpoints of the outline with an automatically drawn line and end the command.

Back

Press the down arrow key and select Back to undo the last action.

Finish

Press the down arrow key and select Finish to end the command.

The new NOTE element displays in the Draw Explorer containing an OUTL element. The OUTL element contains VRTX elements that represents each vertex of the outline.
