The following procedure represents the minimum interaction that is required in order to generate a macro file from an Standard Triangle Language (STL) file.

STEP 1 |
Start up the Import-STL program from the Equipment tab of the Model module: |

STEP 2 |
Enter or select, using the browser, the name of the STL file to be translated. |

STEP 3 |
Specify whether the STL file is in American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) or binary format. |

STEP 4 |
Click Create to start the translation process. |

STEP 5 |
Repeat STEPS 2 to 4 for each STL file that is to be translated. Click Exit to terminate the Import-STL program. |
The above procedure creates one or more macro files suitable for input to Model. Each of the macro files, by default, have the same root name as the associated originating STL file, with the extension of .mac.
In addition, there is also a report file (log) created for each translation file operation. Each of the report files, by default, have the same root name as the associated originating STL file, with the extension of .log.
All file names are validated by the Import-STL program prior to the translation operation starting. The user can rename the macro files and report files using Windows Explorer.
