Parent (Master)-Detail Report (Detail Report Bands)

Creates a parent-detail report (report with hierarchically linked data) using a Detail Report band.

1. Create a new report.

2. Bind the report to a data source containing a data relationship.

   

3. Deselect all controls and make sure the report name is displayed at the top of the Properties window.

4. Right-click and select Insert Detail Report from the drop-down menu.

   If the bound data source contains a data relationship, the submenu contains an item with the name of that relationship. Select this item to create a Detail Report band, already bound to the detail table.

   

5. Drag and drop the required fields from the Field List tab of Report Explorer window onto the Detail and Detail Report bands.

   

   Note:
   Only items from the relation section can be dropped onto the Detail Report band (in this example the Categories Products section) or the report will return incorrect output.

   

6. Click the Print Preview tab to display the result.
