The Import 2D DXF/DWG functionality is for translating dxf or dwg files into AVEVA E3D Design Model. The imported elements can be used as an underlay for modelling on the 3D view. The imported elements are created and stored in the model hierarchy. By default, Aid Group (AIDGRO) elements are created to store the imported elements. Refer to Construction Aids for further information.

Note:
Version 2013 (or older) dxf/dwg files can be imported into AVEVA E3D Design.

Note:
The import process supports the drawing of rotated, aligned, angular and radial dimensions.

All the tasks that are associated with the import of dxf or dwg files are available for selection from a central window, which acts as a task hub.

The DXF/DWG Import window is displayed as a dockable window, initially docked at the right hand side of the screen.

The Source part of the DXF/DWG Import window is always initially displayed, further windows are presented (progressive disclosure) prompting for input.
