User Defined Piping Bores

Sets user defined piping bores for the generation of supports.
Once a new bore has been defined, existing supports can be configured to work with the new bore through tools provided in Paragon. The tools allow for bulk modification of supports and enable quick administration of new bore sizes.
The following support types can be associated with user defined bores:
-
Ancillaries
-
Frameworks
-
Trunnions
-
Hangers
Important:
All items of the types listed above from either the standard support catalogue or user defined catalogue databases can be used. However, there may be some additional administrative steps required for use in design. For example, a new hanger bore size will potentially require additional catalogue modifications to ensure that the hanger components exist for them. For the same reason, the hanger templates may also need to be updated within design. Refer to Supports Administrator for further information.
Update Requirements and Pre-Requisites
The user defined piping bores functionality requires the most recent version of the ACP project. The supports application defaults in Paragon must also be updated, refer to Update Existing Client Project Application Defaults Databases for further information.
The following databases must be part of the MDB when running the update tools.

MDS/CATA
-
MDU/CATA

Support Bore Configuration
Use the Support Bore Configuration window to configure user defined piping bores for supports.
The Bores tab displays the available bores and the selected bores. The selected bores can be associated with ancillaries, frameworks, trunnions or hangers.

When the application is launched, any nominal bore table(s) are collected and available bores display in the available bores grid. If no nominal bore table(s) are found, only system defined bores display, this can still be useful for extending the capabilities of existing standard support types.
Select the Show Standard Bores check box to display standard bores in the available bores grid.
Select the Show User Defined Bores check box to display user defined bores in the available bores grid.
The selected bores grid contains all bores that will be associated with ancillaries, frameworks, trunnions or hangers.
To select bores, select the required items in the available bores grid and click the right arrow at the side of the grid. The items are transferred to the selected bores grid. Click the left arrow to reverse the action.
When the bores have been selected, it is necessary to update the outer diameter field in the selected bores grid. This is required because many supports within the catalogue rely upon the outside diameter parameter to set the design geometry.

directly to the specified tab.
The Ancillaries, Frameworks, Trunnions and Hangers tabs display the available items and the selected items. The selected items can be associated with user defined bores.

The available grids contains all items available for selection.
The selected grids contains all items that will be associated with selected bores.
To select items, select the required items in the available grids and click the right arrow at the side of the grid. The items are transferred to the selected grids. Click the left arrow to reverse the action.
The selected bores grid is provided for reference.
Note:
The Ancillaries tab includes a drop-down list for MDU database selection. This enables bores to be
extended into any number of pre-existing sets of user defined supports databases.
Selections are maintained against the selected databases until the window is applied
or cancelled. Selections can be viewed at any time by switching between each database
in the drop-down list.
On the Hangers tab, click Apply to create catalogue data for the new bores.
Note:
If the application detects that support data already exists for a given bore, the
creation request is ignored for the selected support and the application continues
to service any other outstanding requests.
Once the creation process has been completed, administration activity can begin to prepare the new bore sizes for modelling (for example, modification of design parameter data). New support bore sizes may not be active by default and must be activated using the Supports Active Standards window Refer to Active Standards for further information.
The process can be repeated any number of times with the proviso that existing size data will be ignored during the creation process.
When the new bore support sizes have been created, activated, and administrated in Paragon, they can be used in Model provided that all required template adjustment has been carried out (framework and hanger templates only).
