AVEVA E3D Design Installation

AVEVA E3D Design is supplied via the AVEVA Download site, as part of the AVEVA Unified Engineering bundle.

It is recommended that the default settings are used for folder paths , unless you have good reasons for doing otherwise.

Manual installations can be easier if run from the Setup.exe program, which ships with each .msi installation. Each Setup.exe checks and installs the dependencies of its primary installation, before running its primary (MSI) installation. You should never see missing dependency errors if installations are started from the Setup.exe program.

Setup.exe also tells the primary installation to target the C:\ drive/volume, which is the preferred default in most manual installations. However, if a more customized installation is required then running the primary MSI directly becomes the better approach. In such cases, run time dependencies must be deployed beforehand.

To view the release notes, you will require a PDF Reader installed on your workstation.

Note:
For the purposes of this section of the installation guide, the windows displayed during the installation have the version number obscured. However the information and functionality available from the windows are applicable to this version.

The AVEVA E3D Design Setup Wizard activates at this point and guides you through the installation of the product.

Click Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard.

After clicking Next, the system performs a check to make sure that Microsoft Message Queuing Service (MSMQ) is enabled. If the service is located the Client Cache Service window will confirm this.

If the service is not found the Client Cache Service window will display a warning message and instructions on how to install the service.

To enable MSMQ, click Programs and Features to display the Control Panel.

In the left hand pane, click Turn Windows features on or off to display the Windows Features window.

Note:
This may take a few minutes to populate.

Select the Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server check box and click OK to enable the Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core component.

When complete you are returned to the Client Cache Service screen.

Click Back to step back s stage, Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Next to display the End-User License Agreement window.

You must read the End-User License Agreement and then select the I Agree check box to activate Next.

Note:
If you do not select the check box, Next will not activate and the installation cannot continue.

To print a copy of the End-User License Agreement, click Print.

Click Back to step back a stage, Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Next to display the Destination Folder screen.

Click Reset to restore the default path.

To check if enough disk space is available click Disk Usage to display the Disk Space Requirement screen.

Click OK to return to the Destination Folder screen.

Clicking Change on the Destination Folder screen, displays the Change Destination Folder window which allows you to select a different folder name and location path.

Click OK to return to the Destination Folder screen with the new folder path selected or Cancel to dismiss any change and return to the Destination Folder screen.

On the Destination Folder screen, click Back to step back a stage, Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Next to display the Initial Configuration screen.

The Initial Configuration screen allows customization of existing projects and infrastructures within the installation.

De-selecting the Install setup files and: check box deactivates the Create Start Menu Shortcuts and the Create Desktop Shortcuts options. Both options are dependent on the setup files being installed.

Clicking Browse displays the Change Destination Folder window which allows you to select a different folder name and location path.

Click OK to return to the Initial Configuration screen with the new folder path selected or Cancel to dismiss any change and return to the Initial Configuration screen.

On the Initial Destination screen, click Back to step back a stage, Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Next to display the License Config. screen.

Click Back to step back a stage, Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Install to display the Installing AVEVA E3D Design screen.

The Installing AVEVA E3D Design screen displays a taskbar showing the status of the installation.

During the installation process the screen displays Cancel, which can be clicked to stop the installation. When selected a window is displayed asking for confirmation that the installation is to be cancelled.

Selecting Yes displays a screen showing the AVEVA E3D Design Setup Wizard was interrupted.

Click Finish to exit the screen and installation.

Selecting No on the confirmation screen returns you back to the Installing AVEVA E3D Design screen and continues the installation.

When the installation is complete the Completed Installation screen is displayed.

When the installation of AVEVA E3D Design has been completed, the latest projects can also be installed if required. The installation file can be found in the Unified Engineering bundle (located on the support site). Running the MSI file will display the following screen.

Click Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Next to display the Custom Setup screen.

The Custom Setup window displays every configurable aspect of the installation. Configurable Features are displayed on the left hand side of the window, in a control called the SelectionTree. Each feature is depicted as a box with a description of the feature displayed in the right hand pane. The boxes representing each feature are depicted as follows:

Clicking a box displays a drop-down menu.

Clicking Reset will de-select all currently selected features.

If the Feature is not available (), a Location Path showing where the program is to be installed may be displayed, if so Browse becomes active.

Click Next to install the AVEVA Projects.

Click Back to step back a stage, Cancel to terminate the Setup Wizard or Install to start the installation.

The Installing AVEVA Projects screen displays a taskbar showing the status of the installation.

Click Finish to exit the screen and installation.

Click Finish to exit the Setup Wizard.

You should refer to the APS_Project_description.pdf and ACP_Projects_description.pdf for further information. These files are installed during the installation of the projects in the location selected by the you.
