Version Compatibility

Only one instance of GCS can be installed on a given machine as it is a service. GCS requires a compatible version of AVEVA E3D Design to be installed.

A compatible version of AVEVA E3D Design is required to read the primitive geometry and a compatible version of GCS and AVEVA E3D Design is required to create caches from the primitive geometry.

GCS can be installed on the same or separate machines but each must be installed with a compatible version of AVEVA E3D Design.

On the server machine creating the caches, an AVEVA E3D Design license is taken out to:

• Configure the Graphical Changes Service by the Graphical Changes Services Configuration.

• Monitor a project for graphical changes by the Graphical Changes Service.

On a given server with the E3D service installed, GCS can be configured to monitor one or more projects so many monitor and builder processes will be created, each taking out an AVEVA E3D Design license. For a seat based licensing model using a single server, there would be no additional licenses required, unless the maximum number of instances is exceeded. If more than one server is used, each server will require a license. On a given server there would also be one or more instances of GCD Builder running and creating caches. Again, as these are all running on the same machine with seat based licensing model.
