Windows Control Panel

The Windows Control Panel contains tools that are used to change the way Windows looks and behaves. The AVEVA E3D Design Installation Guide describes how to use Control Panel tools to configure Windows to run AVEVA E3D Design. To open the Control Panel, type Control Panel in the Start menu search box and then press enter.

Graphics Card Settings

You should set the display to a resolution of at least 1024 x 768 (1920 x 1200 recommended) and the colour depth to True colour or 16.7 million colours.

To set the display settings, open the Control Panel. Select Appearance and Personalization, Display, Change display settings, Advanced settings. Make the appropriate selections for the graphics card.

Run AVEVA E3D Design from a Command Window

You can run AVEVA E3D Design from a Command window rather than using the Start/Programs menu. To do this you must set the PATH variable to include the folder where AVEVA E3D Design is installed.

• Open the Control Panel.

• Select System and Security, System and click the Advanced system settings.

• Click Environment Variables.

• Edit the system variable Path to add the folder, for example, C:\Program File\AVEVA\E3D Design XXX to the list of folders in the Path variable.

Once the Path variable includes the folder, you can run AVEVA E3D Design by typing launch at a command prompt.
