It is always possible to open an XML script file directly.
Open an XML script file
In Project Explorer, do one of the following:

Double-click a script file.

Right-click a script file, and select Open on the context menu.

Right-click any type of file and select Open as Text on the context menu.
Open other file types
You can also use Script Editor to open other file types, such as scenario files or graphic context files. This is possible due to the Open as text feature (available in the Project Explorer and Object Explorer) and because all these files share a common XML format.
