Import actions for MWX Soup

The Scene Explorer provides a set of context menu actions that can be applied to MWX Soup content to customize the result of the import.
Whereas the configuration settings are applied to all content of the import, the Context menu actions can be assigned specifically to a portion of the content.
There are three types of actions:
-
Skip: Identifies that part of the content to be skipped in the next import.
-
Detach: Identifies that part of the content to be imported as proper mesh geometries.
-
Aggregate: ldentifies that part of the content to be imported as a single mesh geometry.
New actions
No action can be applied in the first import because the node used to load the MWX Soup is not yet available in the Scene Explorer.
After completing the first import, you can locate those portions of the hierarchy that need to be imported in a customized way.
Set an action
-
Right-click a node in the MWX Soup hierarchy and select Detach or Skip action from the context menu.
When the action is created, the selected node and all its descendants change their aspect to remind the user that an import action has been set. Any new action can be removed by invoking the context menu and selecting the Import - Cancel entry on the same node it was created on.
Note: Created and not used actions will be lost when the Scene Explorer gets reloaded. This happens when importing a CAD, reloading the Graphic Context, or when adding a new node to the Graphic Context. You should remember to reimport the file before doing anything else.
Previous actions
When applying actions on a node used to load the MWX Soup, its hierarchy becomes split into two parts: the soup stays under the /* node, while the detached and skipped hierarchy parts are outside of it.
You can locate the import actions used on an MWX Soup file as those nodes that are marked with a specific icon.
Revert an action
Right-click the node and apply the Import - Attach action from the context menu. The revert will take place when reimporting the file.
Restore initial import
The MWX Soup file root node offers an Import - Reset entry that can be used to restore initial import without any action applied. It cancels all new actions and reverts all existing ones in a single step.
Note: Reverted import actions will be lost when the Scene Explorer gets reloaded. This happens when importing a CAD, reloading the Graphic Context, or when adding a new node to the Graphic Context. You should remember to reimport the file before doing anything else.
Configuration settings
In order to use import actions properly, some import options need to be set correctly in the importer:
-
tsoup: True
-
nohier: False
-
skipdups: True
-
onlyprims: False
-
recentermesh: True
