Limited release: This a limited release of XR. It does not contain all of the features and tools that are described in this documentation.

New features

We have added these new features in the AVEVA XR 4.0.3 release.

XR for Simulation

XR Instructor and XR Bridge have been added to the release.

Six XR for Simulation related templates have been added to XR Studio that enable the creation of three different types of simulation applications:

Each application type has an empty and a sample project template.

New VR experience for Design Review

The Customizing the XR Engage Template has been updated to provide a more immersive VR experience. Users can now see a representation of their hands in VR. Menu actions are based on finger touch and all functionalities are based on hand actions.

FBX Importer update and new functionalities

The FBX importer has been improved to grant maximum fidelity to imported data.

User Parameters have been added to FBX. This way, the same shader and material configuration functionalities provided by native MWX files can be granted to imported FBX files.

XR Remote Debugger

The new XR Remote Debugger is an external tool to debug an XR application that is running on a different device or machine. For example, you can debug an application running on an iOS device from the Windows machine where the project is managed. The Remote Debugger works with both standard XR and XR Portable platforms. The application must host a RestServer node instance with remoteDebug set to true.

New nodes

We have added these new nodes:

  • AVEVANet - Enables XR to connect to AVEVA Net™ instances to retrieve asset-related data.

Quick Start guides

There are new Quick Start guides for these topics.

Deprecated features

Functionality is marked as deprecated when a specific function or feature is still supported in the current release, but might be removed in a future release. We advise that you phase these features out of your projects and begin to use alternative features.

  • Legacy 2D nodes - These legacy nodes are kept because they appear inside some old module scripts.
