Use the Import CAD button to import or copy data, such as CAD files, geometry files, and others into the XR project.
Import CAD content
-
Click Import on the Graphic Context Editor toolbar.

The Import dialog opens.

-
Next to Files, select the Browse (…) button to access the Open dialog.

-
On the Open dialog, next to File Name, select the drop-down menu and select the preferred file format, such as FBX, OBJ, RFC/GCD, RVM, or Metadata.
For more information, see CAD import options.
-
Select the file to import. You can select more than one file of the same format, to be processed with the same options.

-
Click Open to import the file and close the Open dialog.
Back on the Import dialog, the Type selection box will be filled with only the importers that can handle the previously selected file type. If no file is selected, the full list of importer displays. Selecting one of the importers will refresh the properties information below, and the properties that can be configured for that importer.
-
In the properties area, select from the available list of import options. The import options enable you to customize the import process. All parameters can be modified with specific editors according their type and their constraints. To get information about a property, hover over the property with the mouse to display a tooltip.

-
Click Import to start importing. You can watch the status of the import/conversion process in the log area.

If a problem occurs during the import process, you can interrupt the importing procedure by pressing the Abort button.
Import CAD content from project model folder
If user tries to import a content from inside the project model directory, an additional popup is
coming out to propose to load the content into a node instead of proceeding with a new copy.

If user accept, the correct node is created, if a Copy is requested, an additional check is done
to allow a new copy ONLY IF the user has defined a different destination folder.
Drag and drop
An alternative approach that can be used is dragging and dropping files directly on the 3DPanel, this will trigger the opening of the import dialog, filling the initial information about the file that the user want to open.
