Selecting items

During plant activities, a player can switch between two modes: normal and operation.

  • Normal mode is suited for exploring the scenario, while operation is designed to interact with the items.

  • Operation mode is available in first and third person views. The player can switch between the two modes by pressing the Mode switch button (also called Selection button).

Normal view

Normal view is the default view and is the only mode available when in fly mode.

  • When changing the camera to fly mode, the operation view is automatically disabled.

  • The operation view is also disabled if the player starts running, because players cannot interact with a plant item while running.

  • In first-person and third-person views, the player avatar moves by walking inside the plant.

  • The avatar can climb stairs and ladders, and to collide with solid objects, which prevents the avatar from passing through pipes or walls, or falling down from a catwalk.

  • In Fly camera view, the player avatar keeps still and the user can freely explore the plant. For the most part, collision with objects is disabled in fly mode so that you can pass through solid objects to look inside them or reach a particularly inaccessible area.

Third person

  • The third-person camera has a special navigation modality available that enables using mouse and keyboard.

  • By moving the mouse pointer to a specific point and pressing the central button (mouse wheel) a spot appears and the avatar starts moving towards it.

  • If a solid object is placed between the avatar's current position and the destination spot, the avatar stops walking when it collides with the solid object.

Operation (selection) View

When switching to the operation mode, the user interface changes visually.

Several plant items show a colored silhouette shape and some of them may also display a text label with its tag name.
