Naming a Level Display Item (Legacy 3DS MAX)

  • Last UpdatedJul 04, 2023
  • 1 minute read

The Level Display is an analog linear indicator like a thermometer.

  • In this type of gauge, the quadrant face of the gauge must be multi-material with a dummy texture called leveldisplay_default.tga.

  • The engine generates the dummy texture at runtime.

  • The dummy texture displays the text, gauge ticks, and animates the bar.

Building the item

  • Create the mesh of the leveldisplay.

  • Assign the texture leveldisplay_default.tga to the polygon used as level indicator.

Comment

  • The mesh that flashes when the item is selected is the body mesh: leveldisplay_xxx.
