AVEVA™ XR Studio

Development workflow for testing on device

  • Last UpdatedDec 13, 2023

After the application is developed and is ready for deployment, the next step is to create a PAK file (archive) of the application data.

Generate the application PAK file

  • In XR Studio, on the Run menu, click Make Release Mobile.

This will create a _release folder in the path that is one level above the application directory folder. The archive file (app_core.pak) is created inside the _release folder. All local files referred in the application, such as AR image markers and documents are contained inside the PAK file.

Deploying to the iOS device

After application has been installed on the iOS device, you can copy the PAK file to the application data folder on the device by using the iTunes application or using Finder on MAC OS.

Copy PAK file to device

  1. Open the iTunes application.

  2. Connect the iOS device.

  3. On selecting the connected iOS device, the iTunes application will show installed applications on the iOS device.

  4. Drag the PAK file onto the XRViewer application on the device.

When the file is successfully copied, you can launch the XRViewer application and it will launch the app_core.pak.

If more than one PAK file is found, a prompt is displayed to select the PAK file that you want to launch.
