Clone Nodes in Nodes Panel

  • Last UpdatedSep 04, 2024

Cloning a node means creating another copy of the template that is placed in exactly the same point as the source.

It can be considered a shortcut to avoid to repeating the instancing procedure (Adding a new node).

Note: Only template instancing-based nodes can be cloned. The templateInfo parameter can not be null.

The cloned node (or nodes, if the template includes more than one node) has the same override parameters as the source node, but no other parameters are copied.

To import some source node settings, use the copy and paste technique after the cloning.

Clone a node

  1. Select a cloneable node.

  2. Right-click the node and then select Clone Node on the context menu.

Guidelines about cloning and parenting

  • When cloning a node that has a parent, the cloned node is created with the same parent by default.

  • When cloning a parent node, its hierarchy is also cloned. Ensure that this applies only to cloneable elements in the hierarchy whose templateInfo parameter is not null.
