Naming a Valve item
A Valve is a manual valve with a handle or a handwheel, with or without stem.
Valves are comprised of three meshes:
-
Core
-
Handle
-
Stem (optional)
Two dummies are used to set the position of the opened and closed stem (stem0 state closed, stem1 state opened). By convention, the valve is modeled in open state.

Building an item
-
Create the mesh of the valve, the handle, and the stem.
-
Create two dummies, named stem0_xxx and stem1_xxx.
-
Set the rotation pivot of the stem, handle, and the two dummies on the x-axis.
-
The positions of stem0_xxx and stem1_xxx must correspond to the center of transformation stem_xxx.
-
Assume when the valve is completely open or closed.
-
Add in these property attributes of the dummy: $Node and bObjectSpace.
-
Use the Select And Link tool to parent all the objects to valve_xxx.
Comments
-
The animation of the valve is completely in charge of the logic scripts.
-
The valve can be modeled with stem in any position and the handle in open position.
