Limited release: This a limited release of XR. It does not contain all of the features and tools that are described in this documentation.

New features

We have added these new features in the AVEVA XR 4.0.4 release.

Enhancements to Graphic Context Editor

We have redesigned some aspects of Graphic Context Editor for smoother and simpler handling of objects in the 3D view.

New skin for Design Review screen mode

The Design Review screen mode viewer has been given a redesign and a new look.

See Screen Mode.

New nodes

These nodes are new in this release.

Changes to nodes

We have made changes to the following nodes.

  • Line - Line node is now supported on portable platforms.

  • ItemMonitor - Now supports interaction with hands.

  • Rect2D - Improved support for XR Remote Desktop API.

Security updates to Installer

To increase security, XR Studio installation requires Administrator privileges. To support this, new functionalities have been added to the Installer. See installer.xml.

  • requireAdmin - If set to True, the installer application must be started with Administrator privileges.

  • restrictDirPermission - Requires the requireAdmin installer parameter to be set to True and restricts the user privileges on the specified path to Read and Execute, so that the user cannot modify the files in the path or create new ones.

Multiple XR Bridge versions

We are now providing multiple versions of XRBridge in the XR Studio installation.

  • XRBridge: Support for AVEVA Dynamic Simulator 6.0.

  • XRBridge_dynsim532: Support for AVEVA Dynamic Simulator 5.3.2.

  • XRBridge_dynsim61: Support for AVEVA Dynamic Simulator 6.1.

Note: By default, all configured Build and Run scripts are configured to use the default XRBridge. A new script must be created to use different versions of Bridge.

Deprecated features

Functionality is marked as deprecated when a specific function or feature is still supported in the current release, but might be removed in a future release. We advise that you phase these features out of your projects and begin to use alternative features.

  • Legacy 2D nodes - These legacy nodes are kept because they appear inside some old module scripts.
