The Depth of Field is created through the use of a second blurring scene that is mixed to the scene in focus based on the distance of the pixel from the focus center.
Parameters
Two parameters are used:
-
Focal Distance: The focus center, calculated as the distance of the target from the camera. This is adjustable via the Target Distance parameter of the 3DSMax camera. It is also valid for Free cameras.
-
Focal Depth: Indicates the depth of focus, within this area the focus decreases linearly; beyond this value it is completely out of focus. This is adjustable through the Focal Depth parameter of the 3DSMax camera. The use of the Use Target Distance checkbox is also valid.
DOF modes
Two DOF modes are supported:
-
Full: As shown.
-
Half: The DOF is active only from the camera to the point of fire. Beyond the point of fire, the objects are rendered as if the DOF is not there. That is, they are always in focus.
Activating Depth of Field
To activate this mode, use the b_half parameter inside the dof_hdr_b.cfg file.
