Open a generic text file

It is always possible to open a file as text directly.

Open a text file

1. In Project Explorer, do one of the following:

   • Double-click a text file.

   • Right-click a text file, and select Open on the context menu.

     

Open files externally

It is always possible to open any file using external tools, even if it is not a text file.

This is possible due to the Open Externally feature (available in the Project Explorer and Object Explorer).
