To add an External User Group

Depending on the Identity Server configuration, an External User Group can contain:

  • an Active Director Group

  • an Azure Active Directory Group

  • an CONNECT Group.

  1. On the Security Manager, click List Manager.

    The List Manager menu appears.

  2. On the List Manager menu, point to Edit, and then click Permission Manager.

The Permission Manager tab appears in the workspace.

  3. On the View Type menu, select Group.

The existing groups appear in the Group pane.

  4. Right-click the Group pane, and do the following:

    • To add an External Group, click Add External User Group.

The Select an External User Group window appears.

      1. In the Enter Domain Name text box, enter the appropriate domain name.

      2. In the Enter Group Name text box, enter the text to find the Group name, and then click Search.

Note: You can use the wildcard search (*) to search for a group. You can suffix or prefix the text with wildcard character, asterisk (*), to search the group name that contains the text entered. For example, to search for a group that contains the word 'Test', you can enter the search criteria as, '*Test', 'Test*', or '*Test*'. For a better search, we recommend you to provide minimum four characters.

The list of Groups matching the text appears.

      3. Select the required Group from the list, and then click OK.

Note: You can select more than one group from the list.

The Select an External User Group window closes, and the Active Directory Group is added.

  5. On the File menu, click Save to save the changes.

After adding the External User Groups, you can manage the System Permissions through the Management Center. For more information, see the Adding System Permissions to User Groups section of Management Center User's Guide.

Note: The permissions inherited by a user based on AD Group membership is dynamically calculated. The inherited permissions displayed in Permission Manager is a snapshot of permissions calculated based on the previous login of the user.
