Search for existing Assets

The List Manager’s Asset Search function is provided to aid in drag-and-drop of Assets to fields in a split window view (see List Groups and Items to a field).

1. Click the "Search" tab to access the Asset Search function.

3. Adjust the following options as necessary to search for the desired Asset.

   • Enter search: Input a text string for which to search. The search logic is similar to the Advanced Filter, in which the entire input is treated as a string for which to search. For example, searching for "ue ro" will find "blue room" but not "Tuesday" or "Arrow."

   • Starts with: Check this box to apply the text search only to Assets whose selected attribute(s) (see below) begin with the provided string. For example, with this box checked, a search for the text ex would find an Asset named "Extinguisher" but not one named "Complex."

   • The drop-down selector (shown above) defines whether this search should include Locations and Equipment (Loc\Equip), only Locations (Location) or only Equipment (Equipment).

   • Next, select the attributes in which to search for the specified text. The relation between each is "OR." For example, if "Display Name" and "Description" are selected, the search looks for Assets whose Display Name OR Description match the provided string.

4. When done configuring the search, click the "Search" button () to display a list of results:

   Tip: Double-clicking a result of a Search (e.g. "Test Asset" in the above example) will select that Asset on the Tree tab.
