"Checkboxes" are selected in a similar manner as radio buttons. However, whereas radio button selection is forced and only one radio button can be selected at one time, checkboxes can be selected in any combination or not at all.
Click within the checkbox (
) representing the desired option. A check mark will fill the checkbox (
) to indicate that it is selected.

In some cases, checkboxes can be "nested" in a hierarchy, meaning that a single "parent" checkbox provides control over "child" checkboxes nested within it. In this scenario, the "root" checkbox appears with a box within it.
For example, take Permissions assignment in the Permissions Manager:

In the example above, the checkbox for the "Mobile Operator" entry in the "Application Type" area indicates that some, but not all, of its "child" entries - the "Permissions" - are selected. If every Permission in the category is selected, the checkbox contains a check mark, as with the "Reports" example. If no Permissions are selected, the checkbox is empty, as with the "Auditor Plus" example.
