AVEVA Mobile Operator security is a two-step process. The first step is to determine if the user attempting to use an application is recognized as a valid user (authentication) and the second step is to determine the Mobile Operator privileges granted to the authenticated user (authorization).
Authentication is the process of verifying the identity of the user. Typically, operators enter a user name and password to authenticate themselves before using the AVEVA Mobile Operator application. As a part of authentication process, all three types of security modes (Enterprise, Local, and Hybrid) verify the user's credentials during the login process.
Authorization is the process of determining if an authenticated user has access to the requested resources. Typically, access to AVEVA Mobile Operator functions is granted based upon the user’s membership in a group and the permission level assigned to the group.
