Create new Items

Creating New Items is a simple process that is available to any user of the Management Centerthrough the Navigation Panel Editor.

Note: Newly created Groups or Items apply only to the AVEVA Mobile Operator user creating them. These changes will not affect the Management Center configuration that other users have set.

1. Click the icon on the Navigation Panel Tool Bar to open the Navigation Panel Editor.

2. Select a Private Group from the list in the Navigation Pane and create a new Item by clicking the icon. The new group will automatically appear as the last group in the list.

3. Configure the General section of this New Item as follows.

   1. Enter a Label for the item (up to 100 characters). The Label will display immediately in the Navigation Pane of the Navigation Panel Editor.

   2. Enter a Tool Tip for this Item (up to 200 characters). The Tool Tip will display when the user hovers the mouse pointer over the item display in the Management Center.

   3. Optionally, select a different Icon to represent this Item in the Navigation Panel.

4. Configure the Target section of this New Item as follows.

   1. Browse for the Target File (document or executable) that this item will launch.

      • May be left blank

      • Characters that are restricted from Windows file names are not allowed: / * ? < > |

   2. Browse for the Working Folder used if the Target is a program executable.

      • May be left blank

      • Read Only

   3. Set the Parameters, if any, for opening this application.

      • May be left blank

      • XML tag characters are not allowed: < >

      • Limited to 200 characters

        Note: Check with the Administrator of the application that you wish to launch from the Management Center to determine if there are any parameters that must be entered here in order to launch the target application.

5. Click OK to save the changes to the new "Private" item before closing the Navigation Panel Editor, or click Apply to commit the changes before continuing to add New Items or Existing Items to this group. (See also Save changes.)
