Asset importer file structure

Each line, which represents an Asset entry, contains the following data.
Note: Only the Asset Name is necessary; all other fields are optional.
Tip: If you wish to specify (for example) Field 1 and Field 3, but not Field 2, separate Field 1 and Field 3 with two commas to represent the empty entry, e.g. "Field 1,,Field3"

Field 1: Corresponds to the "Name" Asset datum.

Field 2: Corresponds to the "Description" Asset datum. The supported formats of asset description are as follows:

Field 3: This optional entry designates the Asset entry’s Parent asset. If left blank, the Asset entry is placed at the root level of the Asset list.

Field 4: The unique identifier for an external system of record. Valid only if imported via an application other than Procedure Builder.

Field 5: Specifies the classification of the Asset. Enter a 0 to indicate Location, or 1 to indicate Equipment.

Field 6: Specifies the classification of the Asset’s Parent. Enter a 0 to indicate Location, or 1 to indicate Equipment.

Field 7: Enter "true" to indicate that Work Order Requests (s) are allowed on the Asset, or "false" to indicate that they are not.

Field 8: The display name of the Asset.

Field 9: Enter "true" to indicate that the Asset should be marked as deleted within the Database, or "false" to indicate otherwise.

Field 10: Text specifying the Asset Type (e.g., a "Pump" may be of type "Centrifugal Pump") of the Asset.

Field 11: Text specifying the Asset Type which is the parent of the Asset Type in Field 10 (e.g. “Pump”)

Field 12: Text specifying the Asset Type which is the parent of the Asset Type in Field 11 (e.g. “Rotating Equipment”)

Field 13: Text specifying the Asset Type which is the parent of the Asset Type in Field 11 or 12 or 13, etc.
Displayed below is a section of a CSV file formatted for Asset import and opened in Notepad.
Note: The examples below indicate very basic Assets on which only fields 1 through 3 are specified.

The same lines opened in Microsoft Excel would display as follows.

Note: The CSV file opened in Microsoft Excel must not contain a header row specifying the field names.
The data in the CSV file, when imported to the Asset List, displays as follows.
