Alphanumeric data entry

Text fields and cells allow entry of alphanumeric data using the keyboard.
The size of the entry area in a text field can vary. This is done primarily to suggest to the user that one entry should be kept short while the other may be more verbose (see example below). Text fields are sometimes called "text boxes" when the entry area exceeds one line.
The following example shows two text fields.

To enter data into a text field, click within it to place the cursor.

Highlight any existing text, if you wish to replace it.

Then, type the desired text.

Text fields can also be presented as cells, like in a spreadsheet. In the example below, the "Night Shift" text is a text field, but is displayed differently due to the desire to display many entries in one area.

Edit the "cell" just like a text field.
